KAYANA GALLERY

MASTER OF ARCHITECTURE // COMPLEX STUDIO

The design for the redevelopment of the Dumbartung Kayana Gallery and Keeping Rooms at the Dumbartung Aboriginal Corporation was conceptualised through analysis of the macro and micro spaces and its relational significance with the river and site.  The embedding of Aboriginal history, traditions, and culture within the built form and it’s surrounding natural environment is therefore fundamental to the design. This design aims to capture unique experiences for the user of the space, but it will also consider the ease of integration in relation to the gallery and exhibition space, formal and informal education spaces as well as nurturing community awareness of Aboriginal culture and history.
